Good to know
A 6 gallon copper moonshine still built from heavy 20 oz copper is a good first laboratory for anyone curious about how heat, vapor and metal work together. This one comes with a thumper keg and a cooling worm, so the whole path from pot to collection jar is in the box. Hose connections and copper-to-copper unions make setup simple, and the thick copper walls hold up to a full load of mash.
Is a 6 gallon copper still a good size for a beginner?
Yes. Six gallons is a forgiving batch size. It's small enough that you can learn your cuts without wasting much wash, and it's capable enough that experienced hands still use it as a spirit still. Each run is a small experiment: you change the heat, watch how the vapor responds, and learn something new each batch.
- Heavy 20 oz copper: thick sheet that stands up to a full charge and spreads heat well.
- Thumper and worm included: the thumper gives vapor a second pass, and the worm cools it back to liquid.
- Lead-free, food-safe seams: handcrafted joins you can trust.
- Simple setup: hose connections and copper-to-copper unions go together easily.
Owning a still is legal in the US, and plenty of people use one for distilled water, essential oils or fuel alcohol. Making spirits requires federal (TTB) permits, so get those in place first. If you have questions about heat sources or setup, contact us and we'll talk it through. Shipping within the U.S. is free.
